Albania has decided to assist Kosovo with the necessary technological means that will be put to use during the local elections due on October 17.
The development was confirmed by the Central Election Commission who also stated that the two respective institutions signed a temporary agreement to implement the technology at the polls.
The agreement was sealed with the signature of State Election Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi and his Kosovar counterpart Kreshnik Radoniqi.
The agreement provides that Albania will temporarily provide Kosovo with 50 recording and monitoring cameras that were used during the last parliamentary polls.
Kosovo is expected to utilize the cameras at the Counting and Results Center after polls close.
The head of Kosovo’s CEC highlighted the importance of having these cameras in preserving the integrity of the elections and augment the trust of the citizens in the electoral process.
