The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, attended the Bled Strategic Forum being held in Slovenia. During his word, he said that the membership of the Western Balkan countries in the EU would be positive for both parties.

He listed two main reasons behind his argument.

“The inclusion of the six Western Balkan countries in the EU will have many benefits. Firstly, the EU’s external border will get smaller. From a security perspective, this is a good thing for both sides. One in three citizens from the region does not live in the Balkans. They live in the EU. With the inclusion of the Western Balkans in the EU, our nations will live in the same space and this would be better for the economy”, Kurti said.

He also reiterated that Kosovo is a pro-Western country that aspires to join the EU and NATO as soon as possible.

Among others, the head of Kosovo’s executive branch said that his country is ready to contribute to humanitarian issues.

“We’re sheltering 2,000 Afghans. We’re a poor country, but we believe that when it comes to humanitarian issues, we must not ask why, but how”, concluded Kurti.
