Albanian citizens believe that the health and infrastructure ministers should remain in office during the third mandate of Prime Minister Edi Rama.

According to political scientist Adri Nurellari, Manastirliu got a high score due to the pandemic, given that people were mainly focused on their health.

He also explains that the health minister won political ground thanks to the vaccination campaign.

“Manastirliu was under the spotlight because the pandemic, for the past two years, has shifted the attention to the quality of life and the way we behave. People were directly involved because we’ve all been afraid. We’ve had sick people”, said Nurellari. “The pandemic was Rama’s ace under his sleeve. He focused on being a savior who brought the vaccines in the final moments. In this sense, Manastirliu gained a lot from this electoral strategy”, he said.

In addition, asked from anchor Bruna Çifligu on the reasons why citizens also chose minister Belinda Balluku, he responded that there is a general sense of satisfaction that people have for all the investments in road infrastructure.

“We can say the same for Balluku. One of the main reasons why governments tend to win the elections in Albania is asphalt. Infrastructural investments landed Balluku as the second most popular minister”.

But according to journalist Mentor Kikia, the real reason lies behind immense TV exposure.

“People give their evaluation based on two points, which name they recall first, and what they think these ministers have achieved”, said Kikia.

The citizen’s opinion for what the ministers of the Rama cabinet was measured by a survey conducted by Euronews Albania where 1,000 face-to-face interviews in rural and urban areas were conducted throughout August.
