As infections have more than doubled in the past weeks, the Ministry of Health has decided to reopen a third hospital in the capital in order to treat patients with COVID-19.
The news was confirmed by health minister Ogerta Manastirliu on her official Facebook page.
Manastirliu said that a plan to face the situation and avoid burdening hospitals has been enacted.
She also called on citizens to get vaccinated in order to curb the spread of the virus and reduce the number of hospitalizations.
“Massive vaccination is essential to halt the spread of the pandemic and mitigate its consequences”, said the health minister.
On Friday, 895 citizens tested positive to COVID-19, while the number of active cases is estimated at 11,288.
