It’s been 5 years, since Mother Teresa born Anjeze Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, was declared a saint by Pope Francis through a ceremony that took place in the Vatican.
September 5th was also chosen for its significance, as it marks the day Mother Teresa passed away back in 1997, in Calcutta, India.
Two apparent cures of sick people after Mather Teresa’s death in 1997 have been attributed to her intercession.
The first, was the testimony by Monika Besra, mother of 5. She has stated that after praying before the icon of Mother Teresa, she was cured of a tumor in her stomach. The event took place in 1998 and was recognized as a ‘miracle’ by Pope John Paul II, in 2003.
The second miracle was recognized by Pope Francis in 2015. A 25-year-old from Brazil also confirmed that he has been cured from a tumor in his brain after having continuously prayed to the Albanian nun.
Mother Teresa was born on August 26th 1910, in Skopje. She was especially revered for her humanist work with the poor in India, and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize back in 1979.
