The Socialist Party will change its statute and how organizations are conducted. The decision was taken during the first meeting that Prime Minister Edi Rama had with the new secretaries.
General Secretary Damian Gjiknuri said that the changes aim to prepare the structures for the upcoming local polls.
Gjiknuri also spoke over the recent party shuffle and the removal of Taulant Balla from the secretary-general.
‘I am not aware of any dissatisfaction. Obviously, there are various expectations within a group, perhaps an end that has not been met. Balla has a crucial role, which is leading the Socialist Party’s parliamentary group. The separation of the two functions was made to reorganize the party and in no mean to diminish or upgrade anyone’, Gjiknuri said.
On Friday the new legislature will convene, where the opposition will be in parliament after around 2 years.
Last week, PM Rama introduced his new cabinet made up of 12 women and 3 men.
