The High Court overturned on Tuesday a request made by SPAK asking the institution to resend to jail suspended cardiologist Edvin Prifti.
The High Court also quashed Prifti’s request to lift his suspension from duty. Prifti, who has been released on bail, is accused of corruption and money laundering.
He was arrested after SPAK was investigating a judge from Kruja, involved in several high-profile criminals that had been unjustly released from jail.
His name surfaced during a wiretap recording with the former judge, where the latter was asking him as a favor to assist in her mother’s surgery.
The Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime has currently frozen all of Prifti’s bank accounts as well as assets.
