The Ambassador of the United States to Tirana, Yuri Kim, took it to Twitter to say that “consistent prosecution of corruption” will improve the business climate in Albania.

Her reaction came after the American Chamber of Commerce released the 2020 Business Index report, warning that the level of doing business in Albania is at “its lowest since 2012”.

According to the US Ambassador, there is a direct link between the “rule of law and business”. Kim emphasized that clear rules, a conclusive solution to property rights, cleaning up the courts, and fight against corruption will attract more American investors.

The AmCham report urges the Albanian government to cut down bureaucracies and create a more favorable climate for foreign investors.

Ambassador Kim also posted that she had met with SPAK chief Arben Kraja, reiterating the importance and expectations that the US has on SPAK.
