On September 13 and 14, Angela Merkel will travel to the Western Balkans as part of her farewell tour as the German Federal Chancellor.
As per an official announcement from the chancellor’s office, Merkel will be in Tirana on the fourteenth of September to meet with the executives of the six Western Balkan countries. Her first stop will be Belgrade, where is expected to meet Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
The main topic will be around bilateral policies, the economy, and the EU integration process. A joint press conference is expected to follow up after their meeting.
The day after, the German chancellor will be heading to the Albanian capital where she will first meet Prime Minister Edi Rama, and then with the heads of government of the other six Western Balkan countries, to discuss mainly over regional cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, a press conference is due. Prior to her departure to Berlin, Merkel will hold bilateral talks with the prime ministers of Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and North Macedonia.
