The Albanian Competition Authority (AK) released a statement about what is happening in our country with the supply chain of flour – where several companies are overstepping their bounds and violating several fair competition guidelines by determining higher prices that has resulted in a domino effect reaching the poorest Albanian customers, who are dependent on flour and bread.

AK also declared that the following companies: Agro Blend SHPK, Miell Tirana SHA, Bloja SHA, Atlas SHA and Atlas Mills SHPK, in collaboration with one another, have determined the selling price and have thus, immediately affected market prices in the entire sector – something that is breeching the law on the protection of fair competition.

Their reaction came after the increase in prices for bread and other flour by-products, raised immense public concern.

In a ruling that was passed last year, AK had decided to audit and monitor the above-mentioned companies and their behavior and performance for a period lasting a year.

In addition, the Competition Authority (AK) also announced that they will soon come out with a statement regarding their final verdict that will demonstrate whether or not these companies have been complying with the laws of fair competition during this 1-year period.
