The majority of Albanian citizens agree with the decision made by the United States to declare Albania’s former prime minister, Sali Berisha, persona non-grata.

Euronews Albania’s poll found that 57% of respondents ‘strongly’ or ‘somewhat’ agree with the decision of the US department of state. 21.2% are unsure whereas 19.4% strongly disagree with it.

The support for this decision is also large amongst citizens, who chose not to vote in the last elections on April 25^th. This poll also found that 48.8% of respondent that may be considered as ‘gray electorate’ agreed with Berisha’s non-grata designation.

Needless to say, amongst Socialist voters, the support for this decision is practically maximal, (88%) whereas amongst Democratic voters, there’s a split – 45.2% don’t support is, 18.8% do, whereas 34.8% are unsure.

Methodology:

Euronews Albania’s poll included 1 000 interviews (49.5% men, 50.5% women ages over 18) that were conducted nationwide from August 10 – 28.
