Former prime minister Sali Berisha arrived Friday morning at the Assembly.
Berisha was greeted by dozens of supporters and was accompanied by Flamur Noka and Edi Paloka.
He also spoke briefly to the media, throwing direct accusations against current DP leader Lulzim Basha and PM Edi Rama.
“Rama can buy off Basha, but not the Democratic Party. This is our battle. I will come out of this battle even stronger. Long live the Democratic Party and long live Albania”, said Berisha.
Earlier on, Basha arrived at the Assembly accompanied by Shkodra MP Zef Hila and the youngest MP of the Democratic Party Andia Ulliri.
Basha announced on Thursday evening his decision to expel Sali Berisha from the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party until his case against the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is settled.
The US Embassy also reacted after Basha’s move, describing it as a “difficult decision” that “deserves respect”.
