Criminology expert Ervin Karamuca believes that the recent violent wave of crimes comes as a result of the weaknesses in the criminal system for many years.
On the panel of Now with Erla Mehilli, he shared the so-called “four cycles of Albanian criminology”.
The first is the family cycle, said Karamuca.
“This cycle had failed for Aldi Rama, because his parents had been divorced, and he went through several traumas”, the expert explained.
The second cycle mentioned is the “cycle of social support”, which implies control and support from the institutions. The criminology expert reiterated that state institutions could have oriented better the 21-year-old, in terms of education, social support, and even vocation.
The third is the “cycle of criminality”. According to Karamuca, the young man should have been even more under guidance, given that he was a two-time convicted felon.
“The fourth is the cycle of criminal justice. We had a justice reform, but not for criminal justice, and all these crimes are a result of the weaknesses throughout the entire criminal justice system that we have today”.
