The US Embassy in Albania has confirmed receipt of the 14-point platform on integration from President Ilir Meta. In an exclusive declaration for Euronews Albania, the main foreign diplomatic authority in Tirana declared it is currently evaluating the proposition set forth by the President of the country.
The President’s platform calls on reaching a consensus between the ruling party and the opposition over the main reforms and EU integration. The 14-point platform set forth by the head of state aims to resolve a few issues, from the mutual agreement on electoral reform, withdrawal from the anti-defamation package as well as cases in relation to the judicial system. The justice reform clauses have been the divergent point and have caused wide reaction by political actors.
Prime Minister Edi Rama commented on a declaration made by President Ilir Meta on integration, saying that he “has not received any proposal by Meta”.
“The President has not submitted any platform, but I am ready to sit down and engage in a dialogue with the opposition and with the partners of the judicial reform to clarify this matter once and for all, that the theater fell, it’s no longer there”, declared PM Rama.
