The Deputy Minister of Health Eugena Tomini said that 94-95% of hospital beds are taken up by COVID-19 patients, meanwhile, the rest has either had one shot or both vaccine doses.
In an interview for Euronews Albania on Saturday, the deputy health minister confirmed that at least 35% of the population has been fully jabbed.
Asked about future plans to begin administering a third dose, also known as a booster shot, Tomini said that the decision belongs to the Experts Committee on Vaccines.
“The Albanian government, at least in the past 48 hours, was in process of getting 500,000 Pfizer jabs by December. As we are talking, we have more supplies than demands”, hinting that it might be a factor that increases possibilities to consider administering booster doses.
The deputy health minister also noted that Albania was not behind in its vaccination campaign and that authorities are considering all means to inoculate citizens.
