Intelligent devices that monitor the movement of cars and traffic around the clock, will now be installed in all road axes. They are designed to measure things like speed and license plate numbers while also checking for other road code violations like not wearing a seat belt or the use of cell phones while driving.

While describing this device, interior minister, Bledi Cuci stated that it currently has no other rivals in the market and that it automatically registers violations while sending the information in real-time to the Directory of Traffic Police for processing.

“It’s a device that can be easily moved across all road segments,”- said minister Cuci, while overseeing the process of installation for the German device, in road segments that link Tirana with Elbasan.

In addition, he warned all citizens who repeatedly violate safety rules on the road, to start being careful so that they don’t risk losing their driver’s license.

Moreover, the General Director of the State Police, Ardi Veliu, stated that the fines and penalty notices will be sent directly to the driver’s home address within a 30-day period from the recording of their violation.

“The device will work 24 hours a day. Identification will be achieved through the car’s registration plates, after which the system will bring up the driver’s personal home address, where the fine will then be mailed to, accompanied by an excerpt from the footage that recorded the violation, including the location, date and time stamp. We have the obligation to notify the driver through a mailed-in notice within a 30-day timeframe,”- he said.
