Investigators are pointing to jealousy, being the most likely cause for the double murder reported last night, in the capital city, where 31-year-old, Xhekouki Jaboa from Ghana and 26-year-old Kliton Pira lost their lives.

Pira was the one who initially stabbed his girlfriend with a knife, causing her to die, followed by the 26-year-old from Dibra taking his own life by jumping from the 8th floor of their short-term rental.

Family members of the 26-year-old have been asked as well as neighbours in the apartment building, but as of now, investigators have yet to pinpoint the exact cause of the murder case.

The young couple had been dating for several months, after meeting through social media during the time they were both living in England.

26-year-old Kliton Pira had returned to Albania one month ago, whereas the 32-year-old from Ghana had just arrived that Saturday morning.

This incident marked yet another addition to the worrying death count of women in our country for 2021 – in only 9 months, there have been 14 murder victims that were women.
