The advisor of the Albanian prime minister, Odeta Barbullushi said that the government had high hopes that the Brdo Summit would have sealed a date on opening accession negotiations.

“There was a discussion among EU countries on the perspective of enlargement in the Western Balkans and including this topic in the agenda of the discussions”, said Barbullushi, adding “of course, the strongest political message would have been to receive a clear date on the opening of the negotiation process”.

The prime minister’s advisor explained that the Brdo Summit was in its substance a political summit organized by the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

“In fact, it aimed to convey the message of the EU’s greater commitment to the Western Balkans in the political area, to assess the reforms and discuss economic issues of mutual interest”, she concluded.
