The Parliament of Kosovo is expected to adopt a law before the end of year that would allow the use of digital currency. The new project aims to regulate the use of cryptocurrency in the local market as well as incoming transactions from the international market. The law also aims to solve the current issues in regards to the taxation of this coin.

On the other hand, the Central Bank of Kosovo (BQK), is asking that this industry, which operated illegally in Kosovo, be regulated once and for all.

The Chair of the Economic Commission, Ferat Shala, told KosovaPress that his team has been conducting the research asked by professional instances from the Parliament of Kosovo, with the aim of regulating this sector which is currently, out of the state’s control.

Shala also noted that the main base for this illegal industry is northern Kosovo, which according to him has been the main reason that prompted authorities to draft this law.

The use of cryptocurrency is already a well-known phenomenon in Kosovo. The head of PDK, Memli Krashniqi has declared that he has invested around 300 thousand euros into crypto.
