The massive vaccination campaign currently going on at the Ismail Qemali University in Vlore has been faced with the refusal of a small number of students.

According to healthcare authorities, the news was forwarded to the press by a group of students, whereas their expectations are to have more students show up to get their vaccines during the rest of the week, as the new academic year is slowly approaching.

“Students coming in to register or for consultations have a chance to continue getting their vaccines during this week. Our goal is to implement the decision made by the ministry because as you know, no unvaccinated student or professor can enter the auditoriums or they will have to present a molecular test,” – said Dr. Agron Bashllari, Chief of the Epidemiologic Department.

Meanwhile, several students have admitted that they are only getting their shots so they don’t miss out on the school year.

Some parents have also expressed their uncertainty when it comes to their children getting the anti-COVID vaccine.

“We don’t have any hopes that the vaccine will do much. We’ve gotten our flu shots before and still got sick. We’re only going for it because it’s mandatory, otherwise, we wouldn’t have done it,” – said one of the parents.

Parallel to this, authorities will continue with the vaccination verifications for professors and teaching staff in all academic institutions in the country. In cases when they’ll refuse to get vaccinated, they too will have to present a weekly molecular PCR test, which won’t be offered in public health clinics, but only in private labs.

In addition, patients that suffer from specific health issues will have to present a certificate signed by their family doctor. Medical reports will be scrutinized to make sure that they are authentic, said the doctor.
