SPAK has officially closed all investigations into the 10 high-ranking officials and former officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and has now sent the case of the police uniforms tender to trial.
Investigations concluded that unlawful acts were conducted by the Director of the Concentrated Purchases Agency, Edlira Naqellari, in collaboration with the members of the Procurement Unit F.Ç.; A.B.; A.O.; K.H.; A.M.; including members of the Commission of Bid Evaluation K.B.; F.D.; M.B. and G.M., who acted contrary to the regulations set forth by the public procurement entity by favoring certain judicial subjects, violating the right of other participants in the tender to compete on equal terms and creating an unfair advantage in favor of the third parties, said the report made by SPAK.
9 officials and former officials of the Interior Ministry were arrested three months ago, following an operation lead by SPAK, connected to the abusive police uniforms tender valued at over 25 million euros.
SPAK issued search warrants carried out in the suspects’ residences, on the basis of which they decided to follow up with the arrest of the members of the Procurement Unit, Flutura Çekrezi, Ani Omuri and Kleviz Hasani. Members of the Commission of Bid Evaluation, Kreshnik Bejkaj, Fatmir Femneri, Mariglen Buzali, Gëzim Mingaj are also currently being held in prison over charges of violating public procurement regulations, obstructing equal opportunity in tender competitions and causing damages to the economy.
