The General Director of the National Medical Emergency Center Skender Brataj said that between the life risk posed by COVID-19 and vaccines, citizens need to opt for the latter, and the debate should not be on whether vaccines should be mandatory or not.

During tonight’s Now with Erla Mehilli, Dr. Brataj reiterated that from a medical perspective the best possible outcome is achieving immunity, adding that studies have shown that people who have received the jab tend to recover much easier from the virus.

“Get the vaccine or put your life in danger if you contract the virus”, Dr. Brataj said. “Natural immunity is better than the vaccine, but we can’t play games with people’s lives”.

On the other hand, he asserted that vaccines do not fully protect neither from getting infected nor from transmitting the virus.

Asked on a prediction on how much longer will the virus be present, Dr. Brataj pointed to a few more years.

“All viruses typically go through mutations when they come out and conclude their cycle. Even COVID has gone through a thousand mutations, but until now Delta was the strongest. Clinically, the virus is dying”, he concluded.
