PM Edi Rama responded to DP’s Lulzim Basha about the accusations made by the latter regarding the current energy crisis during today’s plenary session.

According to Rama, public debt isn’t as Basha claimed, ‘out of control’, because Albania is soon planning to receive more funding.

“If public debt were to be out of control, we wouldn’t have been able to receive more funding and liquidity in the capital markets. This is set to happen very soon and you will soon be able to see that Albania will get the funding it’s asking for, but just like the IMF says, when it comes to the capital markets, Albania is a low-risk market,” – said Rama.

In addition, Rama noted that the energy crisis does exist, even though consumers haven’t noticed a rise in prices yet.

“There is a crisis and you’ll see in the upcoming days, that it’s not only the energy prices that are on the rise but there’s also a shortage of supply relative to demand. And this means that you might be willing to pay more for it but won’t be able to find the actual amount of energy you need,” – underline the head of state.
