Earlier today, the Socialist Party presented a request to Parliament, to have the term of the current Vetting bodies extended.
Socialists are asking to extend their terms until December 31, 2024, which would mean another 2 and a half years. Meanwhile, the current mandate of the members of the Vetting panel is set to end in June 2022.
PM Edi Rama made a statement earlier today, referring to this specific issue, saying that the extension of the Justice Reform won’t be open for negotiations with the opposition and that it will simply get implemented, no questions asked.
According to the head of state, the extension of the mandate for our Vetting bodies is a necessity that comes as a result of their ability to show exactly how valuable they have been so far, in washing off the scum from the Albanian justice system.
