President Ilir Meta has released a public statement today, sharing his thoughts on the latest crime cases taking place in our country, while urging the police to put more effort into probing and ultimately solving them.
“I fervently condemn the horrendous crime scenes we have been witnessing recently; the murder of businessman Backa in downtown Fier, as well as the kidnapping and torturing of businessman Cangu in Nikel, Kruje,” – wrote president Meta on a social media post.
According to the head of state, “such incidents, represent a serious threat to our public order, our safety and the safety of our property, but also, to our economic and social growth”.
Lastly, Meta made an appeal to the State Police, Prosecution, Informative State Services, as well as other law enforcement agencies in the country, to strengthen their collaboration, with the purpose of promptly arresting these high-risk offenders and put them behind bars.
The president also added that more effective measures need to be put in place, in order to prevent similar cases from happening in the future.
