Kruja Prosecution has begun investigations into the case of 500 residents that were poisoned yesterday and had to receive urgent care.
The judicial body also announced that investigations are being run for the offense of ‘Air, water and land pollution’ causing direct harm to civilians.
Prosecutors are also running tests and gathering expertise amongst poisoned citizens, in order to find out exactly what caused the incident.
Meanwhile, expert groups have been called to work on the ground and gather physio-chemical and bacterial samples of the drinking water in the area.
Around 500 citizens are thought to have been poisoned yesterday in Kruja, amongst whom children.
Early signs pointed to pollution in the city’s tap water, but the exact chemical or instrument that might have caused this remains unclear.
The majority of citizens who were hospitalized received their treatment and walked out shortly after. A few exhibited more serious symptoms and are currently hospitalized and being kept under close watch.
President Meta and the minister of health, Ogerta Manastirliu, both came out with their separate reactions yesterday, calling on responsible institutions to carry out investigations and uncover the real cause of the incident.
