The Milot-Fier highway, part of the Adriatic–Ionian motorway, also known as the Blue Corridor, will cost €1.5 billion. This is one of the costliest projects and will be built by a private company that will secure a concession contract.
But this is not the government’s only public-private-partnership project.
According to the state budget, there are another six concession projects.
Next year, the Albanian government will seal a deal for the construction of an integrated port “Triport Vlora”, that will cost €45 million.
There is also going to be another concession for road safety, estimated at over €40 million.
Two other smaller concessions will be on improving local infrastructure in Elbasan, and improving public key infrastructure.
In numbers, the overall value of all the new concessions that will be signed this year is €1.8 billion, amounting to a total of €7 billion, or 45.6% of the GDP.
