We are ready to help Albania in its path towards EU integration, as soon as we get a hold of the presidency at the EU Council, said the Czech ambassador to Albania, Jaroslav Ludva in an interview for Euronews Albania.
The ambassador also maintained that both Albania and North Macedonia have done their homework and that the EU has to take the first step, which would open accession negotiations.
“There are some issues because timing isn’t perfect. 10 years ago, it was different for other countries [becoming members]. We hope that it will become possible this year. If not, the Czech Republic gets the presidency of the European Council new year, starting from July, which is why we are ready to help you,” – said Ludva.
In addition, he added that it is crucial that negotiations start as soon as possible for both Albania and North Macedonia, which is something he is substantially hopeful of.
The same stance was held a few weeks ago by the EU ambassador to Tirana, Luigi Soreca, who underlined that the EU should keep its promises to both Albania and North Macedonia.
