The second round of talks kicked off in Belgrade between PM Edi Rama, President Aleksandar Vucic, and deputy premier Nikola Dimitrov.

The Serbian President was the first to hold a speech weighing in on the importance of the Open Balkan “as an important initiative which makes a difference”.

Vucic noted that the next meeting will take place in Tirana, after Christmas, where the three leaders will meet to sign a memorandum on working permits.

He also noted that following a meeting with businessmen from all three participating countries, and the latter reaffirmed their stance over the initiative.

Vucic also confirmed that the state leaders have agreed on the establishment of an implementation council.

“This is an extraordinary initiative. It wasn’t created because of Rama, Vucic, or Dimitrov, but for the people. We agreed on the establishment of an implementation council”.

In addition, more measures are to be taken to ease the cross-border movement of citizens, Vucic stated.

“We agreed that for a year and a half our people will be able to move freely. This will strengthen our economies. We’re trying to provide a better life for our citizens”.

“We do have some major delays, for which we already discussed, such as reciprocity on real estate sales. This is something that we need to solve promptly”, he added.
