Prime Minister Edi Rama said that in a discussion with the Montenegrin Prime Minister he confirmed that the country expects to join the EU by next year.

Rama declared that this is the reason why Krivokapic refused to join the Open Balkan, adding that he comprehends the decision while “wishing luck to Montenegro”. He also asserted that if that happens, he will defend the Open Balkan in the EU.

“We don’t have the information that this is something about to happen. When they access the European Union, I am convinced that he will endorse the Open Balkan as he sees as countries that are more behind”, Rama said.

Rama reiterated being open about the involvement of all countries in the region while describing the regional initiative as a “school for European integration”.

According to him, member states will be ready when the accession moment arrives as they will get used to a culture of cohabitation.

Rama concluded his word by saying that Krivokapic must reveal how they were able to get into the EU so quickly, and if that fails to materialize, join the Open Balkan instead.
