Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama issued a warning saying that unvaccinated citizens will not be allowed to enter public spaces as he urged them to get the jab.
“The unvaccinated need to get the vaccine as early as possible in order to protect themselves and avoid not having the opportunity to have access in public spaces, if the situation in the winter will impose that”, Rama wrote on his Facebook page.
Accompanying the post with a video from the lockdown, Rama asserts that the only way to avoid that scenario again is vaccination.
Health minister Ogerta Manastirliu has also spoken along the same lines in the past couple of days, warning that a vaccine certificate might soon be necessary when acquiring services in public spaces.
In Albania, every citizen older than 16 can get the vaccine, while booster doses for +65 have already started being administered.
According to Our World in Data, 31.28% of the population in Albania is fully jabbed, while the official death toll from the virus is 2,948.
