With 61 votes in favor (out of 120) and 24 against, the Parliament of Kosovo approved the new government led by Avdullah Hoti, member of the Democratic League for Kosovo.
The session was boycotted by Speaker Vjosa Osmani and the MPs of the Self-Determination Movement.
Hoti’s government will have 16 ministers, 7 from the LDK, 4 from the Alliance For the Future of Kosovo, 2 from Nisma and 3 from the minorities.
Hoti received 26,000 votes in the last elections, 150,000 less than Vjosa Osmani, which also ran with the LDK. When asked about this detail, Hoti said that he has the party’s mandate, which has more than 200,000 votes.
Hoti promised that there will be consensus and transparency in the dialogue with Kosovo, by including all political forces.
The government led by Albin Kurti was ousted by the parliament a few months after coming to power, due to a disagreement with the coalition party, the LDK (Democratic League of Kosovo).
After this decision, the LDK appointed Abdullah Hoti to form the new government, a decision that was decreed by President Hashim Thaci, from the PDK.
Kurti’s Self-Determination Movement declared that the country should go into early elections, and took the case at the Constitutional Court, which ruled in favor of Hoti’s new government by considering Thaci’s verdict as legitimate.
Kurti accused the older corrupted politicians of ganging up on the new ones who do their job well. He warned that if there will be no early elections, the Self-Determination Movement will continue its battle with the people.
