The establishment of a special commission tasked to work on the electoral reform was withdrawn from Monday’s plenary agenda.
The decision came after a request submitted by the head of the Democratic Party’s parliamentary group Alfred Rushaj as parties have yet to agree on the specific subjects that will be covered by the commission.
Parties will have time until the next plenary session to find a common language.
Around 10 days ago, the DP deposed a request to Assembly for the establishment of a Special Commission on the Election Reform.
The document signed by 10 MPs prescribes several duties that the commission must have, such as drafting constitutional amendments, and the legal framework for dealing with the OSCE/ODIHR recommendations on the April 25 elections.
The request was accepted by PM Edi Rama during a meeting he held on the same day with SP’s district leaders.
