Zoran Zaev will continue to be North Macedonia’s prime minister and chair of SDSM (Social Democratic Union of Macedonia).
Last night, the high structures of SDSM decided to officially postpone Zaev’s resignation due to the current situation facing the country.
Member of SDSM’s leadership, Pero Kostandinov, didn’t specify the exact amount of time needed for Zaev’s resignation, but he did say that North Macedonia stands before great challenges, which include the long waits in regards to opening negotiations for EU membership.
A few weeks ago, Zaev made a public appearance during which he declared that he would step down due to his party’s devasting defeat in the local elections.
His statement, however, remained a statement and was never referred to the Macedonian Parliament as is usually the case in similar circumstances.
