“Urban transportation and construction projects are some of the biggest environmental polluters, which cause large emissions of carbon dioxide and nitrogen”.

This was the statement of environment expert, Valbona Mazreku, during her live appearance on Euronews Albania, during which she underlined that air pollution in Albania is several times higher than in EU member states.

Mazreku also expressed her concern that there have been no studies or data collection in regards to the quality of air in our city for at least the past 3 years.

In addition, the expert said that certain devices should be installed in several locations around the capital city, which would then be used to estimate the level of pollutants in the air.

The expert put an emphasis on urban transit in the city, which according to her should undergo a route redesignation so that the number of buses covering a single axis can be reduced.

In addition, she underlined that the law that deals with environmental parameters should also be carefully reconsidered.
