Minister of education, Evis Kushi, accompanied by PM Edi Rama presented the 2022 Budget on education.
Initially, the education minister stated that come next year, there will be a 6% rise of all wages of employees in the education sector and all schools around the country. A substantial part will also be dedicated to the infrastructure of these schools.
“The 2022 state budget, through a fund valued at 950 million Albanian Lek, will be able to cover for the transportation of around 35 thousand students that live more than 2 kilometers away from their schools. Through another budget of 110 million ALL, we will offer scholarships to students with special needs or children that were born in low-income families, with the aim of bringing down our drop-out rates,” – said Kushi.
Textbooks will also undergo several changes. Starting from next year, students from the 1st-3rd grades will all be able to get free textbooks.
During his word, PM Rama said that his administration’s goal is to bring up teachers’ wages by up to 40%, within his 4-year term.
Another important aspect of these changes regarded the qualification of those appointed as school principles.
