Former PM Sali Berisha held another meeting this Tuesday – part of his nationwide ‘Pulpit’ tour – with his supporters in Fushe-Kruja.
Initially, Berisha maintained that the only thing he has been able to convince Lulzim Basha to do during the past 8 years of him in the lead of the Democratic Party, is to not go ahead with a Grand Coalition and share the central government with Edi Rama.
“You sacrificed because of a leader that only thought about himself and was absolutely thinking of going ahead with a co-governance with Edi Rama. And if there was one decision, which Sali Berisha convinced him to not go ahead with, I can guarantee that this is the one, and I’ve been fully aware of the fact that an alliance with a criminal would’ve been the darkest day for every Albanian,” – said Berisha.
In addition, Berisha claimed that back in 2011, he was the one to make Basha mayor of Tirana and that this was his only political victory.
Berisha – who was prime minister at the time – said that at the end of the tally, he had asked to count all remaining votes that had been mistakenly inserted in the wrong ballot box (which according to the Venice Commission are still valid), at a time when Rama was only 10 votes ahead in Tirana, thus securing Basha’s victory, even though the latter had already announced his resignation.
In addition, Berisha insisted that the Democratic Party’s National Assembly will be absolutely held on December 11.
“On December 11, the peaceful revolution of all Democrats will convene in the [National] Assembly. The invincible assembly of all Democrats that has taken it upon itself to protect the fate of all Democrats and democracy in Albania,” – said Berisha.
