“The Albanian government is not interested in resolving the problem with retirement pensions in Albania”, told Euronews Albania, the president of the “Diaspora91-19” association.

According to Basha, the government has not taken any concrete steps.

“We have been forgotten for 30 years. Even the Italian governments have left us in oblivion”, Basha said, adding that the governments, in general, are not interested in spending for pensions.

“There are no efforts by the Ministry of Diaspora. I discussed it at length with Mr. “Majko and in the end, the result was zero”, he said further.

Giorgio Rubolino, the secretary of this association, was of the same opinion.

“Albania is saving up on all the pensions it would give to Albanians, who have worked for less than 15 years and are employed in Italy. Italy is escaping from all the pressures it would have if an agreement were to be reached, but also collects the contributions that Albanians make here in Italy, who are obliged to work for seniority”, he said.

He explained that regardless of citizenship, even if they are provided with an Italian passport, their years of work in Albania have not yet been recognized.
