The Albanian PM’s criticism towards the European Union is valid, according to the former Croatian President, Stipe Mesic. Whereas the former PM of Kosovo, Agim Ceku advised Rama to be more collaborative with PM Kurti.

According to Stipe Mesic, former president of the last country to become a member of the EU – Croatia – the level of regional stability in the Balkans isn’t at its best. In fact, he saw the prime minister’s criticism of the block’s member states as valid, especially those that have to do with the delays in the process of negotiation.

“This criticism will normally arise because the European Union doesn’t have a leader. A well-rounded leader has to extend the doors of their home, accept the Balkans, and give them the opportunities they deserve. Being left out because of a single individual isn’t fair, it isn’t correct. Because I believe that we are a family that has to collaborate, it has to enlarge and offer an opportunity for one another,” – declared Mesic.

Mesic was the president of Croatia during the majority of the time, during which negotiations with the EU were taking place. According to him, the enlargement process is absolutely necessary. Whereas according to the former PM of Kosovo, the collaboration between Rama and Kurti is an absolute necessity.

Mesic and Ceku were present during the Balkan Leadership Conference held this Sunday in the capital.
