Hospitalizations are three times lower while mortality dropped by 50% due to vaccinations if we compare it to the situation from last year, said on Euronews Albania doctor Arben Gjata.
Dr. Gjata explained that the epidemiological situation saw signs of improvement mainly from vaccinations.
“This can be attributed to vaccinations as over 70%-80% of patients at the hospital were among those who weren’t vaccinated”, he said.
The only hospital treating patients with COVID-19 that has reached its maximum capacity is the Infective Diseases Hospital, said Dr. Gjata.
According to the Health Ministry, 936,539 citizens have received both vaccine doses.
In Albania, everyone older than 16 can get the jab, while booster shots are available to +65 citizens.
The official death toll from the virus is 3,040, while the country has logged around 196,400 positive cases from the beginning of the pandemic.
