The police have arrested 6 citizens this Tuesday, ages 25-44 after suspicions that they were selling and transporting products amounting to around 1 million euros, for which they hadn’t paid any taxes or customs fees. They had also gone so far as to not register their business at all.
The police operation under the code name ‘Fast Delivery’ began after authorities started to notice that the packages arriving in Albania weren’t accompanied by their tax receipts.
6 storage rooms were being used to store the merchandise suspected to be contraband, which included 300 different kinds of industrial products including clothes, perfumes, herbal medicine, tools, and construction materials. Authorities have seized all the above-mentioned products including the monetary gains that had been accumulated by the group through their undeclared cash revenue.
The 6 suspects will be tried on charges of ‘Illegal trade and transport of contraband goods’, ‘Storing and depositing contraband goods’, ‘Hiding income’ and ‘Violating ownership rights of industrial tools’.
