COVID-19 in Albania: 4 victims, 556 new confirmed cases

Four people died from COVID-related complications over the last 24 hours, while authorities recorded 556 new infections.

Tirana remains the epicenter of the outbreak with 220 new cases, and active cases estimated at around 4,234.

Albania has recorded more than 197,160 positive cases from the beginning of the pandemic.

Currently, there are 7,847 active cases across the country, of which 150 are being treated in the hospital.

The health ministry reiterated its appeal urging citizens to get vaccinated. So far, 936,539 citizens have been fully jabbed.

In Albania, all citizens older than 16 are eligible for the vaccine, while booster shots are being offered to +65 citizens.

On Tuesday, the health ministry announced that it is closing down the vaccination tent at the main square, but citizens will be able to get the vaccine in every medical center close to their neighborhood, or at the Air Albania stadium.

The official death toll from the virus in Albania is 3,053 people.
