The President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani was hosted by Canada’s Premier Justin Trudeau who expressed his support for the country’s recognition process. Osmani hailed the meeting as a “reconfirmation of Canada’s support for Kosovo”.

“Strengthening the international subjectivity of Kosovo by advancing the recognition of our country in international organizations, cooperation in the area of security, trade, and education, as well as strengthening the role of women, democracy, and the rule of law, were among the topics we discussed and vowed to cooperate on”, wrote President Osmani on Facebook.

Canadian premier Justin Trudeau took it on Twitter to point out the ways how the two countries can advance their shared values.

Canada joined the list of countries that recognize Kosovo in March 2008, less than a month after it proclaimed independence from Serbia.
