The Ministry of Transportation of North Macedonia has taken away the license rights of the travel agency which owned the bus that was involved in a fatal crash that claimed at least 44 lives on November 23.
The Ministry noted that the agency did not possess due authorization for international travel.
“Based on Article 12 of the Law on Transport of Travelers, and in order to prevent any other type of activity from the company which could lead to consequences to passengers, the license of Besa Trans BTB will be revoked”, a statement from the ministry read.
Meanwhile, the Customs Directorate announced that it had suspended two officers for allowing the bus to cross the border without valid documentation.
The directorate also noted that the bus had also crossed other border points, but did not confirm whether additional measures will be taken.
The fatal bus crash occurred around 45 kilometers away from Sofia, meanwhile, only 7 people survived.
The citizens, mainly ethnic Albanians from North Macedonia, were returning home from a trip to Istanbul.
