This Friday marks 2 years since the tragic earthquake that hit Durres and other cities close by in the early morning hours of November 26, 2019 that took the lives of 51 citizens and injured over 1000 others.

The 6.4 magnitude earthquake caused major destruction and collateral damage, from impairing building structures to completely bringing down several others, which left many residents homeless especially in areas in Thumana and Durres.

Yesterday, PM Rama visited a newly reconstructed neighborhood in Thumane, where he oversaw the construction process in person, whereas today the head of state remembered the calamity through a post on social media.

In his public message, Rama emphasized that tragedies are a test for humans, adding that today, we have come back stronger.

Rama also pointed to the fact that today, thousands of families that were hit by the earthquake are better and getting back on their feet.
