Zoran Zaev has stepped down from the post of prime minister as well as the leadership of the Social Democratic Union (SDSM).

The SDSM is set to elect a new leader after a significant defeat at the municipal elections.

According to the spokesperson Bogdanka Kuzevska, procedures will roll out on 27 November, while all party members who fulfill the criteria can enter the race.

SDSM leadership race is set for December 12. The new leader is also expected to become the new prime minister of North Macedonia.
