During his attendance at the ceremony marking the beginning of work for the construction of Vlora’s International Airport, PM Edi Rama deemed it a historical landmark, not only for the city of Vlora, but for Albania, Kosovo and Albanians everywhere in the world.
In response to skeptics, the prime minister said that airports are the motors of economic and social progress for our country.
“Airports are like food factories because they bring up profits, they lure in consumers and the more people come into our country through airports, the more opportunities there are for the country, to increase services and production because it creates an entire economic chain that is placed at our disposal,” – said Rama.
In addition, the head of state explained that the Airport of Vlora will be an affiliate of the Munich Airport, which according to Rama, will make it easier to then become a part of the whole system.
‘The Munich Airport – as an operational force – guarantees that which all airports need, that is synergy with all other airports. A beautiful infrastructure or runway – which in this case will be 3.2 km and include direct trans-oceanic flights – isn’t enough, because alliances with other airports are needed in order to create a system,” – said Rama.
