Many citizens were seen in Prishtina today, holding flags and other national symbols in order to celebrate Albania’s Independence Day. Many of them, have also made calls for the national unification of both countries.
The main square of Kosovo’s capital city bustled with people, drumming and traditional music. In addition, art and history students presented several projects that exuded various symbolisms of national pride.
Misret Bislimi, a local, told KosovoPress that Independence Day is a celebration that includes all Albanians and that you can’t find a single Albanian that doesn’t agree with national unification.
“November 28 is a great day, that should be celebrated by all Albanians, regardless of where they are, they need to celebrate it. There is no Albanian that doesn’t wish for national unification. Whoever calls themselves Albanian, must know that we were forced to be divided,” – he said to local news agency KosovaPress.
Today doesn’t only mark the 109th anniversary of Albania’s Declaration of Independence, but also the birthdate of the legendary Albanian commander from Kosovo, Adem Jashari and the 24th anniversary of the public proclamation of the KLA (Kosovo’s Liberation Army).
