Through a post on social media, the US ambassador to Albania, Yuri Kim, reacted about the visit of Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs responsible for the South Central European (SCE) portfolio and US Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, to our country, which will mark his first visit to Albania set to take place on December 9.
While sharing a message from the United States Embassy in regards to Escobar’s agenda upon arrival to Tirana, ambassador Kim said that amongst other things, the high-ranking official will be discussing the determination of the United States in fighting the war against corruption and impunity.
“As outlined in President Biden’s Executive Orders, Escobar will also discuss U.S. determination to fight: corruption, impunity, and efforts to undermine democracy in the Western Balkans,” – wrote ambassador Kim on her Twitter post.
Yesterday, the United States Embassy in our country posted the official itinerary expected to be followed by Escobar.
The US Special Envoy will be meeting PM Rama, MFA, Olta Xhacka, DP chair, Lulzim Basha as well as other political leaders.
“Deputy Asst Sec of State Escobar will visit Albania 12/9 to deepen our close friendship, based on shared democratic values. He will meet PM Rama, FM Olta Xhacka, DP Chair Lulzim Basha and others, to reaffirm unwavering support for democracy, EU integration, stronger defense cooperation, opportunities for trade and investment,” – concluded the US ambassador.
