Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Gabriel Escobar will be visiting Albania today, where he will meet with several high-ranking officials in the country.

Around 12:00, the high official will be meeting with the DP chair, Lulzim Basha. After, at 14:45 he will meet with the foreign minister, Olta Xhacka. At 17:00, Escobar will meet PM Edi Rama.

Escobar’s visit coincides with DP’s National Convention, called by the former leader, Sali Berisha, who has been declared non-grata by the United States government about 6 months ago.

A few days ago, Gabriel Escobar visited North Macedonia.

The US official discussed 2 main topics with president Pendarovski, acting PM Zoran Zaev and foreign minister, Bujar Osmani: US support in the process of EU integration, as well as the resolution of their disputes with Bulgaria
